I’m already familiar with medication (which I highly dislike), breathing exercises, a few herbal methods and a few other alternative approaches. There are probably a lot of things I’m missing though. I’d like to know how other people cope with general anxiety and panic attacks. Do you have any tips and tricks? Do share them, please.
Thank you for reading.
Hmm…Is this some kind of disease you are having or it is same like other people also face….well whatever.
The best way is to take deep breaths and try to talk with your best friend.

I have social anxiety disorder and I wanted to suggest a medication to my doctor, I have tried Zoloft and Paxil and I have mixed results. Zoloft the first time gave me good results, the second time on it I felt no different. Paxil made me a mean person. My S.A. has gotten worse over the past year or so and I’d really like to have a "heads up" on medications and how the results panned out for anyone else?
A slightly lower dose of Zoloft combined with a low dose of Celexa worked great. OK here is the disclaimer I am not a Doctor just been there. Sometimes finding the right combination can take time and is frustrating waiting it out. My doc believes the less medication the better but she has been very willing and creative in trying the two and for me it worked well. I had the same experience with the Zoloft as it worked well the first time then 3 years later I needed to be on it again and it didn’t work so well so my Doc added the Celexa with it. As always you should check with your Doc before starting anything new etc.
Also check out Web MD they have a wealth of information.
Another thing I tried was therapy to try to figure out where the stressors were coming from..just a suggestion
Good Luck!

I have Asperger’s syndrome, and social anxiety as a result. I don’t want to take meds and there isn’t any cognitive behavioral therapy remotely nearby, so I’m looking into acupuncture. Anyone who’s tried acupuncture for anxiety, what’s it like? How effective was it? Do you have to get it regularly for it to work?
Acupuncture can help manage anxiety in many cases. Often it will take more time for the therapeutic effects of acupuncture to be realized over pharmacological interventions because it is a more mild treatment. The upside is less negative side-effects.
In my clinical experience you are looking at 6 to 8 weeks of treatment for the anxiety to come under management, although, it can take longer in some cases. You may need to continue monthly treatments to manage the anxiety. However, everyone responds individually to medical treatments so there is no way to know if this will hold true for you.

I have social anxiety and I would like to know if there is any over the counter anti-anxiety pills that actually work???Or any herbal anti-anxiety pills…Thanks in advance!!
Try st. john’s wort pills. It works for me. It says to take three a day, but, I find just one a day is enough. Very inexpensive, too.
Good luck.

I have pretty bad anxiety and panic attacks, even at home. Night time and mornings are absolute terror for me. Is anyone the same or similar?
My attacks surround throwing up. If I have the slightest pain in my stomach for a split second, or if I have too much spit in my mouth or too little spit in my mouth, or if it’s lunch time and I’m not hungry at all.. it sends me into this terrible spiral – no matter where I am.
It starts out with this fluttering feeling in my whole body, then I get very restless and I can’t sit still. Then I start to breathe heavily. If I can’t calm myself down at that point, I’ll get worse fluttering and I’ll start to shake all over, my legs are especially bad. This can continue for what seems like forever and I can’t help thinking that I need to go to the hospital.
Usually the shaking and breathing start to make me feel dizzy at this point and then there’s no natural return – I have to force myself to think that it’s almost over. It’s just an episode and it’s going to go away. I’m not going to die… and it will slowly subside. Afterwards, I feel 100% fine (maybe a little fatigued if I was shaking very much).
The funny thing is that I’m almost 24 and I’ve thrown up 3 times in my entire life… two of those times I was less than 5 years old. It’s worse for me at night and in the mornings because all the times I did throw up were at night so, in my mind, that’s the most likely time I’ll get sick. I don’t eat for hours before I go to bed for fear of that, so I usually go to bed hungry and wake up nausea which also sends me into panic.
It’s terrible and stupid lol but I just can’t help it at all!

I take a supplement called Sam-e but sometimes it’s not enough as I get all worked up over things. I just found out my neighbor has bedbugs and have a horror that they may come over to my condo….friends say I am over re-acting and I probably am as they are just in her mattress now……but I get overly upset over other things that aren’t that bad too….getting ready to go to the gym….I know that will help me. I have had a panic attack 2 years ago and ended up overnight in the hospital as I thought it was a heart attack….the Dr. prescribed lexapro and I gained weight so stopped taking it and started taking Sam-e which is more expensive and he prescribed xanax (the generic one) 0.5mg. and said to take as needed and I don’t think I take it enough as I don’t want to get dependent one it…..got dependent long time ago on valium….the 30 pills he prescribed was last Nov.14th and said to take one half pill as needed and one for insomnia as needed.
xanax you are fine on, take it up to 2 times a week – 3 if needed , you will not have problems becoming dependant on them. you have been prescibed the lowest dose for your anxeity .25mg and for sleeping the next lowest .5mg
if you a nervous about the bed bugs call in exterminator to check the apt
good luck and take it easy

I think that I have Social Anxiety Disorder, but it hasn’t been proven to me or anything. How do I know and how do I cope with it? I think it’s ruining my life.
Are you getting too nerveous in front of strangers? Maybe even near your friends? Do crowds make you feel uncomfortable? Are you gettin sick, sweaty, dizzy before and during you go out or in crowds? Are you having panic attacks? If your answer is yes to those questions, you have SAD or there is a strong possibility.

The guy I’m currently dating told me he has anxiety disorder and takes xanax for it. I really like him and I need to know how to handle this kind of behavior. What should I expect and what can I do to help?
I have a friend who has anxiety and takes medicine for it also. Its really not that big of a deal. As for what to expect: Sometimes when my friend gets really anxious, he has a hard time breathing. He just gets a drink of water (or whatever is near), sits down and takes deep breathes. We usually help calm him down by patting his back or making jokes. I haven’t ever seen him have a serious panic attack, but i heard they are pretty bad. In which case its kind of out of your hands. The most you can do is try to relax him with a soothing voice and rubbing his back or something. But honestly, unless he is worse than my friend, it won’t effect your relationship too much. If hes easily triggered, then it might be a different story but if he has it well controlled like my friend, you will barely notice it.

im not feeling that good, kinda depressed and anxious, im wondering if i should go to the doc and ask for pills.
Hmm, with "kinda depressed and anxious" you probably don’t NEED anti depressants.
They often only give them as a last resort. I took Celexa for 5 months, but stopped after I ended up in hospital after a suicide attempt. I accepted then that they probably weren’t working!!
Just started Prozac today, praying that helps!
I found the celexa worked a lot to start with, then plateau-ed and I felt a bit (UNDERSTATEMENT!) crap. I say a bit, I mean a lot.
Especially in under 25′s (I’m not sure how old you are?) anti-depressants can cause suicidal feelings, so some doctors are very hesistant to prescribe them unless you are suicidal at the time.
Have you considered therapy?
Whatever you decide, I hope you feel better, I really really do.
